What is #7Billion?

May 18, 2011

atom travels science Sometime around October 2011, the human population of Planet Earth will reach 7,000,000,000. National Geographic has a series of articles & stories promoting awareness of this event. You can read their articles here: NatGeo Seven Billion. I am also interested in this milestone for the human species and want to create awareness about the consumption of resources that accompanies a population of 7 Billion. Read about more of my GREEN interests: Conservation with #7Billion

Keep track of the world population with the U.S. Census Bureau’s Population Clock.

What’s with the number sign (pound sign, #)? It’s a Twitter thing. Since I’m a big fan of Twitter as a communication tool and information source, some of my website/writing will include Twitter language.

NatGeo’s most recent article is very fascinating, especially if you like visiting warm oceans, scuba diving with coral reefs, or eating fish. Read about it, The Acid Sea:

The carbon dioxide we pump into the air is seeping into the oceans and slowly acidifying them. One hundred years from now, will oysters, mussels, and coral reefs survive?
