Earlier this week I happened to catch a rerun of one of Steve Irwin’s former shows. What an amazing character! Full of energy!!! Entertaining to watch. And completely in LOVE with animals. In one scene he was handling one of the deadliest snakes in the world. With his Australian accent, he couldn’t stop talking about how beautiful its skin is. “She’s a beaut!”

I forgot how passionate Steve Irwin was about animals, the environment, and life. He is truly an inspiration, and a great role model for science communicators. Steve Irwin, I miss you.

In tribute, I found what I think is one of his funniest interviews, on the Conan O’Brien show in 2004. Admire the energy. Enjoy (the end is the funniest part):
